Likud, Blue and White Deny Reports of Unity Government

The Likud and Blue and White parties separately denied reports that backroom negotiations were underway to cancel upcoming elections and form a unity government.

According to The Algemeiner, reports in the Israeli media citing sources in the top echelon of the parties said that informal talks were underway to recruit 80 Knesset members to vote for the cancellation of the elections, after which the two largest parties would sit in government together.

The reports were quickly denied, with a Likud party official saying he was unaware of such contacts and Blue and White stating, “There is only one option to cancel the elections — that Netanyahu drops out [of political life] to deal with his legal issues and Blue and White leads a broad government.”
