Judicial sources say Spain's National Court has dropped an investigation launched by one of its judges into a 2002 IDF air strike in Gaza that killed a top Hamas terrorist and 14 other people, Haaretz reports. The suspects named by Judge Fernando Andreu included former Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer and six current or former IDF officers or security officials. The case, which had caused diplomatic tension between Israel and Spain, drew protest from officials in Jerusalem, subsequently leading to a Spanish resolution that would forbid judges from launching similar investigations in the future. |
