Gaza Rocket Levels House in Central Israel, Seven Injured

A major escalation in the Israel-Hamas conflict occurred on Tuesday, as a rocket fired from Gaza leveled a house in central Israel and injured seven people, including an infant.

According to the Times of Israel, the residential building in the town of Mishmeret was struck at approximately 5.30am on Monday morning. The rocket set fire to the building and caused substantial shrapnel damage.

Among those wounded were a 12-year-old, a three-year-old, and an 18-month-old. All were lightly injured. A 59- and 30-year-old woman were moderately wounded. A 30-year-old man was also lightly injured.

The family's two dogs were killed.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cut short his trip to the United States in order to oversee Israel's response to the attack, saying, “There was a criminal attack on the State of Israel, and we will respond forcefully."

“In a few hours, I will meet with President Trump and immediately afterwards I will return to Israel in order to oversee our activities,” he added.
