Syria Pullout Begins

The U.S. military began pulling equipment out of Syria on Friday in an apparent beginning to the total pullout promised by President Donald Trump.

According to the Times of Israel, an unnamed official told AFP, "I can confirm the movement of equipment from Syria. For security reasons, I am not going to provide further details at this time."

Trump's snap decision to pull out U.S. troops shocked regional allies, including Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly urged Trump to reconsider, to no avail.

Officials such as National Security Adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have hinted, however, that the pullout will be conditioned on victory against ISIS and Iranian expansionism, which may push off a total pullout indefinitely.
