Report: Orthodox to Dominate American Jewry in Coming Decades

By 2058, there will be more Orthodox Jews in America that Reform and Conservative combined, according to a new analysis of survey data.

And before the end of the century, Orthodox Jews will be the majority in the United States.

Those findings are the results of a new analysis of a 2013 Pew study on the Jewish community provided to the Forward. Further, the Forward reports that the trend is "locked in" meaning there is no present way to reverse it.

The numbers are the result of a much higher birthrate among the Orthodox and far less attrition. The average Orthodox woman has 5.6 children while the average non-Orthodox woman has less than one child.
