Tens of Thousands March Against Antisemitism in New York City

Tens of thousands of people marched in New York City in solidarity with the Jewish community following a wave of antisemitic attacks.

The “No Hate, No Fear” march proceeded from lower Manhattan to Brooklyn, crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. Participants carried signs and waved Israeli flags bearing the Star of David.

The New York Times reports New York Governor Andrew Cuomo telling the crowd, “While we’re here today in the spirit of solidarity and love, government must do more than just offer thoughts and prayers. Government must act.”

He pledged increased funding for security at Jewish sites and new laws increasing penalties for hate crimes.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Senator Chuck Schumer also attended. Schumer announced federal action to compliment Cuomo’s state policies upping security at Jewish sites.
