Report: Netanyahu on Verge of Plea Deal in Corruption Case

The long saga of former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to be careening toward its end, with reports that Netanyahu is in secret talks for a plea deal.

The Times of Israel reports that the attorney general has agreed to the terms of a plea, and the ball is now in Netanyahu’s court.

The sticking point is reportedly an admission of “moral turpitude” by Netanyahu and a sentence to community service. Such an admission would bar Netanyahu from politics for seven years.

As Netanyahu is 72, this could amount to a lifetime ban.
