The U.S. and five other world powers have decided to accept Iran's offer to hold new talks despite its refusal to discuss suspending its nuclear program, the Associated Press reports. "We are seeking a meeting now based on the Iranian paper to see what Iran is prepared to do," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said. "But it's not just a meeting for meeting's sake; it is a meeting to be able to see if Iran is willing to engage us seriously on these issues." Specifically, the U.S. says its prepared to introduce measures to curb Iran's nuclear agenda even if the government in Tehran isn't willing to address such concerns. "If we have talks, we will plan to bring up the nuclear issue," Crowley said. |
