Israel Prepares for Possible US Strike on Iran


There is continuing speculation that President Trump might order an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities before he leaves office in January. According to Axios, Israel is actively preparing for such a possibility.

Senior Israeli officials told Axios that the IDF is on the ready for an attack, and that Iranian retaliation is expected if such a strike takes place. There are signs that an attack is a possibility. Defense Minister Benny Gantz has spoken twice in the last week with the US defense secretary and Iran was reportedly a major subject of a trilateral meeting between the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia last week.

As well, massive B-52 bombers have returned to the Middle East for a "short-term" mission.
