Gymnast Wins Israel's Second Gold Medal Ever

An Israeli gymnast won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday, bringing Israel the gold for the second time in its history.

Ynet reports that Artem Dolgopyat took the gold in the men’s artistic gymnastics floor exercise with a score of 14.933.

The only other Israeli gold medalist was windsurfer Gal Fridman in 2004.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett congratulated Dolgopyat, saying, “Thank you Artem, you have made blue and white history.”

“You are a source of immense pride and excitement for the people of Israel,” he said.
