Iran Threatens to Expel UN Nuclear Inspectors


Iran will expel international inspectors by February 21 if the United States does not lift all sanctions.

The announcement Sunday is the latest attempt by Tehran to pressure the incoming administration of Joe Biden. Iran already announced last week that it would enrich uranium to 20 percent, a small step from weapons-grade material.

In response, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Iran was engaging in extortion:

"Once again the Iranian regime is using its nuclear program to extort the international community and threaten regional security," Pompeo said.

The Biden administration has signaled that it intends to rejoin the 2015 nuclear deal.
