IAEA: Iran Building Key Component for Nuclear Bomb

A confidential report viewed by the Wall Street Journal reveals that Iran is building a key component for the construction of a nuclear warhead.

The IAEA reports that Iran is building an assembly line to manufacture uranium metal. According to the Journal:

When enriched to weapons grade of roughly 90% purity, uranium metal plays a central role in atomic weapons, forming the core of the device which, when triggered, sets off a chain reaction that creates the nuclear explosion.

Iran is now just a technical step away from enriching uranium to 90 percent, but experts say Iran still lacks the scientific skill to fully weaponize a nuclear missile.

Iran has recently taken a number of provocative steps that analysts agree are intended to pressure the incoming Biden administration to drop onerous US sanctions.
