Gantz Pledges to Annex Jordan Valley

Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz tried to steal some of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s thunder on Tuesday, saying he would annex the West Bank’s Jordan Valley if elected.

Netanyahu pledged before the last elections in September that he would annex the strategic area.

“The Jordan Valley is the eastern defense shield of the State of Israel, in any future scenario that will take place,” Gantz said, according to the Times of Israel.

“Governments that have deliberated returning it made a strategic and grave security mistake,” he asserted.

“We see this piece of land as an inseparable part of the State of Israel and after the elections we’ll work toward applying sovereignty over the Jordan Valley,” Gantz pledged.

“We’ll do this in a move agreed on nationally and in coordination with the international community,” he said.
