Fire in the North

Iranian drone shot down in Israeli territory,

air force raids Syria, one plane downed

Israel and Iran clashed directly for the first time on Saturday as tensions escalated on the country's northern border.

The escalation began when Iran launched a drone across the border into Israeli territory. It was quickly shot down.

Israel retaliated with air strikes on Iranian and Syrian targets, facing massive anti-aircraft fire.

One plane was damaged and crashed in Israeli territory. The pilots ejected, with one being seriously injured.

IDF Spokesman Ronen Manelis said, "This is a serious Iranian attack on Israeli territory. Iran is dragging the region into an adventure in which it doesn’t know how it will end. Whoever is responsible for this incident is the one who will pay the price."
