Ollie Heinonen, the former head of the nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency, told Israeli radio that Iran is currently capable of building a nuclear weapon.
"Israelis need to be worried, and the Gulf states also have reason for concern," Heinonen said. "How will you be able to ensure your security if Iran achieves nuclear abilities?"
Further, he said that the IAEA has ignored Iran's attempts to build a nuclear bomb and he was critical of the Trump administration's decision to leave the JCPOA, or nuclear deal.
"The Ayatollahs can handle the new sanctions, and in the meantime they're making new centrifuges," he explained.
