Official: White House 'Very Supportive' of Israeli Strikes on Iran in Syria

A U.S. official said that National Security Adviser John Bolton conveyed on a visit to Israel that the White House is "very supportive" of Israeli strikes on Iranian assets in Syria.

According to the Times of Israel, Bolton's message is meant to reassure Israel in the wake of President Donald Trump's snap decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria despite Israeli objections.

Israel is worried that the U.S. pullout will allow Iran to expand its already considerable military presence in the war-torn country.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that Israel will continue to act against any threats to its security emanating from Syria and Iran.
