Biden Homes in on Pick for Ambassador to Israel

A likely candidate has emerged for the next ambassador to Israel, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Announcements on ambassadorial posts will begin next week, and the frontrunner for the Israel posting is former State Department official Thomas R. Nides.

Nides currently works at Morgan Stanley, and was a deputy secretary of state from 2011-2013.

Born in Duluth, Minnesota, Nides is Jewish and has served in numerous bureaucratic positions in Washington.

The Times of Israel reports that under the Obama administration, Nides built extensive relationships with Israeli officials and dealt with American aid to the Jewish state.
