Major Academic Organization Rejects BDS

The Modern Language Association, a group of over 18,000 American academics, voted down a pro-BDS resolution in a landslide vote.

The group voted 1,954 to 885 against endorsing a boycott of Israel. The organization's statement stated that the boycott "contradicts the MLA’s purpose to promote teaching and research on language and literature," discriminates against Israeli academics, and blocks "possible dialogue and general scholarly exchange."

The Jerusalem Post quotes Cornell professor William A Jacobson describing the vote as "a staggering defeat for the boycotters. ... Needless to say, supporters of the boycott are very unhappy with the vote result, and again are threatening to engineer mass resignations."

The BDS movement is increasingly active on college campuses, sometimes going as far as physical violence in order to push their anti-Israel racist agenda.
