REPORT: Israel Pardons 92 Fatah Terrorists
Palestinian sources reported on Thursday that Israel has granted amnesty to 92 wanted terrorists belonging to Fatah's Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Ynetnews reports.
The latest move, which coincides with progressing negotiations between Israel and Hamas over the fate of kidnapped solider Gilad Shalit, is apparently aimed at bolstering Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' slipping influence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
P.A. sources revealed last week that Abbas was anticipating the massive pardon, which would counter the potential release of hundreds of Hamas prisoners in an exchange deal for Shalit.
