Coming just six days after their meeting in New York, U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell will again meet with Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Monday, Reuters reports. The London meeting is likely to focus on the ongoing dispute over Israeli settlement activity, furthering efforts by the Obama administration to promote a regional peace plan. In return for Israel freezing such projects in the West Bank, the U.S. is expected to ask Arab countries if they would lift sanctions against Israel, which may include opening airspace to Israeli airliners, allowing roaming calls by Israeli cell phones and admitting tourists who have visited Israel. |
