Abdullah: Jordan Cannot Become Palestine

-

Jordan's King Abdullah warned against involving his country in the creation of a Palestinian state while criticizing the Obama administration's failure thus far to "set the right tone" for Middle East peace negotiations to resume, Ynetnews reports.

"We have to be very clear that Jordan absolutely does not want to have anything to do with the West Bank," he said in a CNN interview aired Sunday.

"Trying to make Jordan Palestine doesn't make any sense to me. That's not going to happen."

Noting that "the credibility of the U.S. is under question," Abdullah stressed that the region's long-term security picture will be decided by how successful Washington is in bringing Israel and the Palestinian Authority together in the coming weeks.

"We really have to be able to move the process forward in the next month or so, especially leading to the Arab summit," he said.
